Warm season, stoloniferous, mat- or sod-forming perennial. Stems 10–40 cm. Leaves: blades flat and ascending, 2–4 mm wide, ligule hairy, <1 mm long; sheaths with overlapping margins. Inflorescence of 3 to 6 digitally arranged secund spikes, the branches 3–5 cm long. Spikelets closely appressed, 2–3 mm long with 1 floret, sometimes with vestigial florets.
