General Description
Stems scapose, 6–20 cm. Leaves basal, petiolate, solitary; blade 3–10 cm long, oblong to elliptic. Inflorescence open, 2–8 cm long with 2 to 12 flowers; bracts 5–15 mm long. Flowers greenish white; lateral sepals 3.5–5 mm long; hood 2–4 mm long; lip petal 3–5 mm long, nearly linear, reflexed parallel to the spur; spur slender and curved, 4–7 mm long. Capsule 6–8 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Montana plants are subspecies obtusata.
