General Description
Rhizomatous perennials. Stems erect, 5–20 cm. Leaves cauline, 2 or 3 (solitary on sterile shoots), short-petiolate; blade cordate, ovate, 4–7 cm long, seemingly clasping the stem. Inflorescence an ebracteate raceme with 12 to 25 flowers. Flowers regular, star-shaped; tepals 4, white, separate, obovate, ca. 2 mm long, spreading; stamens ca. as long as the tepals; stigma 2-lobed. Fruit a globose berry, 4–6 mm long, red, mottled when immature (
