General Description
Short-rhizomatous. Stems 50–150 cm. Leaves: blades 6–15 mm wide; basal sheaths white to green. Inflorescence unequally umbellate, of several to numerous, pedunculate, capitate clusters. Spikelets 3–5 mm long. Scales 2–2.5 mm long, blackish with a pale midvein and an awn ca. 0.5 mm long. Flowers: bristles 6, straight or curved, spinulose, ca. as long as the scales; stigmas 3. Achene 2- or 3-sided, whitish, ca. 1 mm long (
