General Description
Densely caespitose. Stems erect, 4–30 cm with old leaf sheaths at the base. Leaves basal and lower-cauline; blades ca. 0.5 mm wide. Inflorescence a solitary bractless spike. Spike narrow, 1–2 cm long; male flowered portion 5–10 mm long; female flowers below. Perigynia obovoid, 3–4 mm long, brown and white, puberulent with a beak 0.5 mm or less long; stigmas 3. Female scales suborbicular, brown with pale margins, hiding the perigynia. Achene 3-sided, filling the perigynium (
