Tradescantia bracteata is not verified as present in Montana. Tradescantia bracteata was reported from Carter and Custer Counties by the Flora of the Great Plains Atlas and specimens were found at the University of Kansas herbarium (KU). These specimens have since been re-determined to be Tradescantia occidentalis var. occidentalis. Another specimen reported to be Tradescantia bracteata is housed at the Oregon State University herbarium and needs to be re-examined before a status review can be conducted.
General Description
Stems erect to ascending, 5–45 cm, sometimes branched. Herbage glabrate. Leaves long-acuminate, 15–29 cm × 9–20 mm. Bracts 6–30 cm long. Flowers; pedicels 2–3 cm long; sepals 10–13 mm long, with glandular and eglandular hairs; petals rose, ca. 18 mm long; filaments pilose. Capsule 5–6 mm long (
