Reported from Big Horn County, Montana (Dorn 1984). More information needed to determine the status of the species in the state.
 
General Description
Perennial herbs, often branching from base and above, mostly 20-40 cm tall, prostrate to erect. Vestiture of stems variable but inlcuding longer and shorter hairs, often glandular or stellate. Petioles 3-25 cm. Leaves mostly 2-4 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, blades rounded-ovate to nearly orbicular, margins entire to coaresly toothed. Flower pedicels stout, 3-8(-13) mm long when flowering but to 30 mm in fruit. Calyx lobes 4-6 mm, lanceolate to triangular, tube 3-4 mm long; corolla 10-15 mm long, limb often reflexed, corolla yellow or greenish-yellow. Fruiting calyx 203 cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, 10-angled/ribbed; anthers usually yellow, 1.5-3.5(-4) mm long. Berry 8-10(-15) mm diameter, reddish-brown to yellowish (adapted from: McGregor et al., 1986, Flora of the Great Plains).

Range Comments
Northern Mexico; CA east to LA, north to NV, MT, and SD (Kartesz in prep. 2012).

Habitat
Sandy or rocky sites, stream valleys, roadsides, and waste areas.
