Annual. Stems erect, branched, 30–150 cm. Herbage glabrate to puberulent, especially on the veins, poisonous. Leaf blades ovate, 6–18 cm long, sharply lobed. Inflorescence of solitary, axillary flowers. Flowers showy; calyx tubular, 3–5 cm long with short lanceolate lobes; corolla white to purple, funnelform, the tube 5–8 cm long, the limb 3–5 cm across with shallow, mucronate lobes.
