General Description
Rhizomatous perennial. Stems, glandular above, 15–50 cm. Leaves mostly basal, petiolate, sparsely hairy; broadly ovate, cordate, 3–8 cm wide, 3- to 5-lobed, crenate. Inflorescence a narrow, glandular, open panicle. Flowers nodding perfect, 5-merous; calyx irregularly cup-shaped with erect lobes 1–3 mm long; petals white, linear, 2–3 mm long, quickly falling; stamens 10, exserted, unequal, ovary superior. Fruit a capsule with 2 unequal, ovoid chambers, 4–6 and 7–10 mm long; seeds 1 per chamber (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
