General Description
Glabrous, rhizomatous perennial sometimes forming loose mats. Stems solitary, scapose, erect, 5–15 cm. Leaves all basal, petiolate; the blade obovate to fan-shaped, 1–3 cm long, deeply dentate on the upper half. Inflorescence few-flowered, racemose to paniculate. Flowers: calyx reddish saucer-shaped with reflexed lobes 1–3 mm long; hypanthium absent; petals white with 2 green, basal spots, elliptic, 2–4 mm long; ovary superior. Capsule 5–8 mm long, follicle-like (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
