General Description
Stems erect or ascending, 30–100 cm, sparsely hairy to glabrous. Leaf blades obovate, 8–15 cm long, divided into 2 to 4 ovate, dentate main lateral leaflets; the terminal leaflet wider than the laterals. Inflorescence an open, erect, pubescent, leafy-bracteate cyme. Flowers erect; hypanthium saucer-shaped; sepals green, 4–8 mm long, reflexed, tomentose on the margins; petals white, 5–9 mm long. Achenes 2–4 mm long, long-hairy; persistent style 4–7 mm long, glabrous; the deciduous, hooked upper portion sparsely hairy (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press.
