General Description
Stems erect or ascending, 25–90 cm, hirsute. Leaf blades obovate, sparsely hairy, 7–15 cm long, divided into 5 to 9 ovate, dentate main leaflets; the terminal lobe or leaflet little wider than the adjacent ones. Inflorescence an open, erect, leafy-bracteate cyme. Flowers erect; hypanthium saucer-shaped; sepals green, 3–7 mm long, reflexed, tomentose on the margins; petals yellow, 5–8 mm long. Achenes 3–4 mm long, long-hairy; mature persistent style 3–5 mm long, glabrous; the deciduous, spreading upper portion hirsute (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press.
