Glabrous annual. Stems 20–60 cm. Leaves basal and cauline, ovate in outline, 2 to 3 times pinnately dissected into linear, ultimate segments. Flowers pedicellate, solitary from leaf axils, regular; sepals 5 greenish, 5–10 mm long; petals 6 to 8, orange, 10–17 mm long with a dark, basal spot; stamens and pistils numerous.
