State Rank Reason (see State Rank above)
See rank details. Most of the species' distribution and populations are in Montana.
- Details on Status Ranking and Review
Population Size
Score0-1 - Moderate to Large: Population size is imprecisely known but is believed to be >10,000 individuals.
Range Extent
Score2 - Regional or State Endemic or Small Montana Range: Generally restricted to an area <100,000 sq. miles (equivalent to 2/3 the size of Montana or less) or Montana contributes 50% or more of the species’ range or populations OR limited to 2-3 Sub-basins in Montana.
Area of Occupancy
Score0-1 - Moderate to High. Occurs in >10 Subwatersheds (6th Code HUC’s), though the species' distribution is not sufficiently documented to place it within one class.
Environmental Specificity
Score0 - Low: Species is a generalist that occurs in a variety of habitats and/or is tolerant of disturbed or degraded habitats (C -Values of 1-4).
Trends
ScoreNA - Rank factor not assessed.
Threats
ScoreNA - Rank factor not assessed.
Intrinsic Vulnerability
Score0 - Low Vulnerability: Species does not have any unusual or specific life history or biological attributes or limted reproductive potential which makes it susceptible to extirpation from stochastic events or other adverse impacts to its habitat and thus slow to recover.
Raw Conservation Status Score
Score
2 to 4 total points scored out of a possible 13 (Rarity factors only).
General Description
Taprooted, loosely mat-forming. Stems prostrate to ascending, 2–5 cm, sparsely hirsute, glandular above. Leaves stiff, ovate to oblanceolate, 2–6 mm long, mostly puberulent, basally ciliate, white-margined. Flowers solitary; pedicels 0–10 mm long; calyx glandular-hirsute, 6–10 mm long with flat intercostal membranes; corolla white to light blue, the tube 9–12 mm long, lobes 6–9 mm long; style 5–8 mm long (
