General Description
Taprooted, single-stemmed annual. Stems erect, 30–80 cm, branched above. Herbage glandular, villous. Leaves lanceolate, 3–11 cm long, weakly dentate. Spikes 10–30 cm long. Flowers slightly irregular; hypanthium 2–4 mm long; sepals 1–3 mm long; petals 1–3 mm long. Capsule mostly glabrous, 5–8 mm long, 4-angled, rounded between the angles (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Wagner et al. (2007, Syst. Bot. Monogr. Vol. 83) treat this as Oenothera curtiflora W.L. Wagner & Hoch.
