General Description
Taprooted annual. Stems erect, 3–25 cm, branched above. Herbage puberulent. Leaves opposite below, short-petiolate; blades lanceolate, entire, 5–20 mm long. Inflorescence of few-flowered racemes terminating branches. Flowers white to pink; hypanthium 0.5–1 mm long, glabrous; sepals 1–2 mm long; petals 2–3 mm long. Capsule pedicelate, beaked, 1–2 cm long, glabrous; seeds finely papillose with a deciduous coma (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
