Reported for Montana (Hitchcock & Cronquist 1973). A couple historical collections from Gallatin County exist. However, more information is needed to determine the status of the species in the state.
 
General Description
Taprooted, acaulescent perennial. Herbage glabrate. Leaves petiolate, all basal; the blade narrowly lanceolate, deeply pinnately lobed, 5–20 cm long. Flowers sessile in axils of leaves; hypanthium 2–5 cm mm long, the upper expanded portion 3–7 mm long; sepals 6–13 mm long reflexed; petals 1–2 cm long; stigma globose, slightly lobed. Capsule sessile, narrowly ovoid, 4-angled, 10–25 mm long, glabrate, slightly curved with a beak 5–15 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Wagner et al. (2007, Syst. Bot. Mongr. Vol. 83) treat this as Taraxia tanacetifolia (Torr. & A. Gray) Piper.

Range Comments
WA to MT south to CA, NV, ID. Collected in Gallatin and Madison counties (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
