Only variety sitchensis occurs in Montana. Collections are available from Lake, Missoula, Ravalli, Glacier and Flathead Counties. Described as "common in wet, shallow soil of cliffs and streambanks near or above treeline" in Glacier National Park (Lesica 2002). Its habitat generally does not appear to be at risk.
 
General Description
Perennial. Stems weak, prostrate to ascending or hanging, 5–20 cm. Herbage glabrous with sparsely villous petioles and stems. Leaves basal, long-petiolate with bulblets in the swollen bases; blades reniform with shallowly lobed margins, 1–3 cm wide. Inflorescence a sparsely-flowered racemose cyme; pedicels 6–20 mm long. Flowers campanulate; calyx divided to near the base, 2–4 mm long; corolla white, 6–10 mm long, lobes 2–4 mm long, yellow at the base; stamens included; style 2–5 mm long, undivided.
