General Description
Taprooted annual. Stems ascending to prostrate, 5–60 cm. Herbage villous to hirsute, sometimes glandular above. Leaves basal and opposite on the stem; blades odd-pinnate, 1–10 cm long; leaflets lanceolate to ovate, deeply serrate. Inflorescence an axillary, minutely-bracteate umbel with 2 to 5 flowers, Flowers long-pedicellate; sepals ovate, strigose, awn-tipped, 3–6 mm long; petals pink to rose, 3–7 mm long; stamens 5. Capsule 4–6 mm long with an elongate style column 2–3 cm long at maturity separating into 5 carpels; styles becoming twisted (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press.
