Diagnostic Characteristics
Dorn (2001, Vasc. Pl. WY, 3rd ed.) distinguishes var. fallax by the following characters: haris of calyx moderately covering the readily apparent surface; lowest flower often well above the leaves.

Range Comments
Southwest MT and central WY (Kartesz 2009).

Rocky, sandy or clay slopes and hills (Dorn 2001).
