General Description
Yellowish-green herbs up to a meter tall; branches minutely hairy. Petioles 1-3 mm, stipules absent or as minute glands. Leaves opposite, 1-7 cm, narrow, acute at both ends. Cyathia solitary; involucre 1.5-2 mm lnog, strigulose, glands 5; appendages white or greenish-white; staminate flowers 20-40; pistllate flower with styles 0.5-1 mm long, bifid about half its length. Capsule 3-5 mm long, papillose, tuberculate or roughened (adapted from: McGregor, 1986, Flora of the Great Plains).
Range Comments
MN to SD and eastern WY south to TX and NM; its distribution in MT needs confirmation.
