General Description
Plants erect with sparsely twining stems, finely pubescent. Petioles up to 40 mm long. Leaves 2-6 cm long, 1-5 cm wide, ovate, bascally cordate to subsagittate. Flowers solitary, frequently 4 or less per plant, arising from lower axils on peduncles 3-5 cm long. Sepals 10-12 mm long, subequal, elliptic to ovate, acute to mucronate, transparent at least on margins. Corollas funnelform, 4-5 cm, white. Stamens 25-28 mm long, glandular pubescent basally. Fruits capsular, globose to ovoid (adapted from D.F. Austin, 1986, in Flora of the Great Plains).
Range Comments
Most common in NE and KS, but extending to AZ, TX, WY, MO, and MI (Kartesz in prep. 2012).
