General Description
Annual. Stems erect, branched throughout, 5–30 cm. Leaves 5–10 mm long. Glomerules of 1 to 3 flowers, the bracts linear to narrowly lanceolate without scarious margins. Flowers: calyx segments ca. 1 mm, unequal, wrinkled at maturity, at least 1 with a horn-like appendage. Seeds lenticular and black or flat and brown, ca. 1.5 mm (Lesica et al. 2012. Range Comments
In MT only known from Custer County; WA to MT and west to OR, CA, NV, and UT (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Habitat
Moist saline or alkaline soil around wetlands; plains (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
