General Description
Stems erect to ascending, simple or branched below, farinose, 10–60 cm. Leaf blades farinose beneath, narrowly ovate to triangular, usually hastate, 1–5 cm long with entire or wavy margins. Inflorescence glomerules 1–2 mm across in interrupted terminal and axillary, simple or branched spikes. Flowers: calyx segments 5, distinct to the base, ca. 1 mm long; stamens 5. Seed round, wrinkled, ca. 1 mm. Our plants are variety salinum (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
In MT known only from Beaverhead, Pondera, Fergus, McCone, Dawson and Wibaux counties; AB, SK south to CA, NM, TX, and Mexico (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
