General Description
Stems prostrate to erect, 10–50 cm. Leaf blades fleshy, pale green and glabrous above, white-farinose beneath, lanceolate to ovate, 1–4 cm long with sinuate margins. Inflorescence glomerules, 1–2 mm diameter, in bracteate, axillary and terminal spikes. Flowers: calyx mostly 5-parted, segments green, nearly distinct, ca. 0.6 mm long; stamen 1. Diagnostic Characteristics
Differs from variety salinum by the following characters: Inflorescences without leaflike bracts, at least on terminal 1/2; leaf blade apices obtuse; vertical seeds 0.6-0.9 mm (Welsh, 2003, Fl. North America, Vol. 4).
