General Description
Mostly glabrous perennial forming loose mats from slender rhizomes. Stems to 30 cm long, trailing to ascending. Leaves ovate, 5–20 mm long with wavy margins. Inflorescence axillary, of 1 to 2 stalked flowers. Flowers: sepals 2–4 mm long, lanceolate with pointed tips and 1 to 3 prominent veins; petals minute or absent; stamens less than or equal to 10. Capsule 3–6 mm long, opening by 6 slits (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
