General Description
Rhizomatous, mostly dioecious perennials with pubescent to glandular foliage. Stems numerous, trailing, branched, 5–40 cm long. Leaves mainly cauline, narrowly lanceolate to elliptic, 2–5 cm long. Inflorescence few- to many-flowered (solitary) in an open, glandular-hairy cyme. Flowers functionally unisexual but with rudiments of the non-functional sex present; calyx obscurely 10-veined, campanulate, 5–8 mm long; petals white, the blade 1–4 mm long, 2-lobed; styles 3. Capsule opening by 3 slits, ellipsoid, just longer than the calyx (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
