General Description
Taprooted biennial. Stems erect, simple, 30–60 cm. Herbage hispid. Basal leaves petiolate; blades oblong, serrate, 3–6 cm long. Stem leaves becoming sessile and lanceolate. Inflorescence a bracteate raceme. Flowers: sepals lanceolate, ca. 1 cm long, erect; corolla campanulate, sometimes white, 3–5 cm long; style shorter than corolla; stigmas 3 (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
Introduced as an ornamental and escaped in northeast and northwest North America, collected in Lake County; native to Eurasia (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
