General Description
Biennial or monocarpic, short-lived perennial from a simple caudex. Stems erect, usually simple, 30–120 cm. Herbage strigose to hirsute. Leaves narrowly oblanceolate, 4–20 cm long, the basal withered at flowering. Flowers: calyx 1–2 mm long; corolla blue, 1.5–2 mm long, 4–7 mm across the limb with yellow, pappilose; fornices. Nutlet body 3–4 mm long; marginal prickles distinct; dorsal face mostly unarmed, pappilose to hirsute (
