General Description
Shrubs to 3 m high with grayish bark, the stems often sprawling. Twigs with sharp-pointed winter buds. Leaf blades 3–10 cm long, lower surface slightly paler than above, the margins 1- to 2-times serrate. Inflorescence borne on twigs of the season. Female catkins 8–15 mm at maturity. Fruit with wings at least half as wide as nutlet (
