General Description
Stems clustered, erect, 20–50 cm. Herbage puberulent, glandular above. Leaves sessile; linear-lanceolate to linear-oblanceolate, entire, 2–6 cm long, the lowest deciduous. Inflorescence short, racemose to corymbiform; peduncles glandular-puberulent. Involucre 7–8 mm high; phyllaries imbricate, narrowly ovate, glandular-pubescent, purple-tipped and -margined. Rays 5 to 8, purple; ligules 7–12 mm long. Disk corollas 7–9 mm long. Achenes obconic, 1–3 mm long, strigose (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
