General Description
Stems 5–25 cm. Herbage glabrate; leaves minutely ciliate. Leaves linear-lanceolate, often wavy-margined, 7–15 cm long. Involucre 15–24 mm high; phyllaries lanceolate,8 to 25, glabrous, purple-spotted. Ray flowers 13 to 90; ligules 10–20 mm long. Achenes 7–13 mm long; pappus of 10 to 30 awn-like scales (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
