General Description
Stems 5–40 cm. Herbage glabrate. Leaves narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate, entire, 4–15 cm long. Involucre 15–25 mm high; phyllaries ovate 15 to 50, glabrous, purple-spotted. Ray flowers 13 to 100; ligules 10–25 mm long. Achenes 6–10 mm long; pappus of 10 to 25 awn-like scales (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
