Diagnostic Characteristics
Subspecies hispidulosa can be distinguished from others by the following combination of characters: Phyllaries lanceloate, usually stipitate-glandular or finely glandular-hispid; leaves 2.5–8 cm wide, margins remotely toothed or serrate, or pinnately lobed, or entire, the tips of the teeth not (or barely) white-tippped (Bogler, 2003, Fl. North America).

Range Comments
BC to MB, south to OR, ID, UT and CO (Kartesz 2009).

Habitat
Dry or moist alkaline meadows; 1300–2500 m (Bogler 2003).
