General Description
Taprooted perennial. Stems erect, 20–60 cm. Herbage sparsely tomentose. Leaf blades lanceolate, 5–20 cm long, pinnately lobed 1/2-way or more to the midvein into lanceolate, usually entire, often runcinate segments. Heads 30–80. Involucre cylindric, 7–12 mm high; phyllaries lanceolate, glabrous; the outer sometimes puberulent. Rays 5 to 10; ligules 6–9 mm long. Achenes pale brown, 6–9 mm long, not beaked (
