General Description

Diagnostic Characteristics
Variety speciosa can be distinguised from the others by the following characters: involucre 8-14 mm long, whitish-tomentose at least at the base; corollas 9-13 mm long, usually puberulent (rarely arachnose) (Urbatsch et al., 2003, Fl. North America, Vol. 20; Lesica 2012).
Range Comments
BC to MB south to ID, AZ, NM and TX (Kartesz 2009).
