Diagnostic Characteristics
Variety nauseosa can be distinguised from the others by the following characters: involucre 6-10 mm long, whitish-tomentose at least at the base; corollas 6-10 mm long (Urbatsch et al., 2003, Fl. North America, Vol. 20; Lesica 2012).

POLLINATORS
The following animal species have been reported as pollinators of this plant species or its genus where their geographic ranges overlap: Bombus bifarius, Bombus centralis, Bombus huntii, and Bombus melanopygus (Williams et al. 2014).
