Diagnostic Characteristics
Subspecies pacifica differs from others by its pubescent foliage, paniculate inflorescence, height typically in excess of 25 cm, and involucres only 2-3 mm long.
Range Comments
In much of western North America, absent from CA, and most abundant in the Rocky Mountains and NM and AZ (Kartesz 2009).
