General Description
Shrub 15–50 cm high, not sprouting after fire. Herbage tomentose with green or gold resin dots beneath, aromatic. Leaves cuneate, 5–15 mm long, 3-lobed distally. Inflorescence simple- or compound-spiciform; bracts linear. Involucre turbinate, 2.5–5 mm high; outer phyllaries green, tomentose; inner tan, resinous; receptacle glabrous. Disk flowers perfect, 2 to 6, glandular; corolla 2–3 mm long. Achenes glabrous or resinous, ca. 1 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
