Diagnostic Characteristics

The leaf blades of subspecies viscidula are dark green, often lobed near the apex, usually less than 2 mm wide, and less hairy than subsp. cana. The subspecies also is more common west of the Continental Divide, but this does not hold consistently in MT, where it is found as far east as Yellowstone County (Shultz, 2006, in Flora N. America, Vol. 19; Kartesz 2009).

Range Comments

OR to MT, south to NV, AZ, NM, and possibly into OK (Kartesz 2009).
