Diagnostic Characteristics
Plants of variety glauca lack scales on the receptacle, have glabrous (lacks hairs) and glaucous (possesses a whitish-bloom) leaves that are rarely sparsely hairy, and usually are glabrous or sometimes puberulent with no glands on the peduncle (flower stem) (Baird in Flora of North America 2006).

Range Comments
Much of Canada east to Ontario, south to CA, AZ, NM, NE, MN, and MI (Kartesz 2009).

Habitat
Wet areas in meadows and other sites, often in somewhat alkaline, fine-textured soils (Baird 2006, in Flora N. America).

Ecology
POLLINATORS
The following animal species have been reported as pollinators of this plant species or its genus where their geographic ranges overlap: Bombus bifarius and Bombus insularis (Wilson et al. 2010).
