    		Range Comments
			One of the most serious insect pests of wheat across the northern Great Plains in North America (Beres et al. 2011).  Genetic distance between C. cinctus from across the northern Great Plains of North America and C. hyalinatus in Asia is most supportive of a hypothesis of a native North American origin for C. cinctus (Lesieur et al. 2016).  Across the Great Plains of North America, a phylogeographic analysis of mitochondrial markers and satellites from individuals identified morphologically as C. cinctus found a putative new undescribed species in western Montana and three haploptype groups consisting of: (1) a mountain cluster in southwest Montana and eastern Idaho; (2) a southern cluster ranging from south of Fort Peck Reservoir down to eastern Colorado; and (3) a northern cluster ranging from south central Montana up to and across the plains of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba (Lesieur et al. 2016).
