The White-eyed Vireo breeds across the eastern U.S. from Florida north to southern New England and west to southeastern Iowa, Missouri, eastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma, and east-central Texas (Sibley 2014). In Montana, this species has a single historic record (Montana Bird Distribution Committee 2012).
