The Little Blue Heron breeds from the southeastern U.S. into Mexico and overwinters from southern Mexico and Central America and Baja California (Rodgers and Smith 2012). In Montana, the Little Blue Heron is an accidental spring and fall migrant (Montana Bird Distribution Committee 2012).
